Pianello

Two steps from the Agriturismo there's the welcoming village of Pianello di Cagli, set in the valley where the rivers Certano and Giordano meet to form the river Bosso. With its 500 inhabitants and a human measure life rhythm, it's the realisation on earth of the mythical Golden Age, bucolic dream of painters and poets. Pianello offers all the base services needed for a serene and safe sojourn; the Church, the Nursery and Primary School, the small shops, the Post Office and the Bank, the chemist's and the village doctor, the various bars and restaurants constitute a complete infrastructure as evidence of the vitality of the yet tranquil place.

Characteristic of Pianello di Cagli is the Sagra della Lumaca (Snail village festival), kept in the month of June. The snails are prepared by the local association Pro-Loco, and the visitors can taste this traditional pianellese recipe, together with other gastronomical specialities such as the "polenta alla carbonara" (typical meal of the coal makers) and the genuine grillings of local sausages.
