The three mountains: Nerone, Catria, Petrano

For those who love the mountain, the Agriturismo Ranco di Sopra offers an ideal place from where to reach easily and in a short time, in a 20 minute radius, the three main mountains of the area.

Mount Nerone rises at 1515 metres on sea level, in the territory of the Municipalities of Cagli, Piobbico, Apecchio. It's a mountain which offers the most diverse landscapes and a great profusion of flora and fauna. From the summer pastures, to the beech-tree woods, to the overhanging rocks, to the caves, it's ideal for a wide range of recreational and naturalistic activities, from trekking to hiking, from speleology to horse riding, up to alpine skiing in the winter months. The rocky canyons, the natural archs, the caves, the woods, the pastures and the creeks make of this mountain a real Nature Paradise. From the rotunda situated on the top a breathtaking view can be enjoyed, in clear days it's possible to see as far as the Adriatic sea and the Republic of San Marino, encompassing with the eye most of the territory of the Province of Pesaro-Urbino.

Mount Catria, with its 1702 metres on sea level, is the highest mountain of the area. The remarkable height difference offers the possibility of observing a very varied vegetation, woods up to 1500-1600 metres, meadows and shrubs. On the top there's the cross which Pope Leone XIII wanted there, visible even at a distance, characteristic of the Mountain. It's possible to choose naturalistic treks by horse riding, mountain bike, or on foot, retracing the old pathways used by woodcutters and coal makers.

Mount Petrano, at whose declivity lies the beautiful town of Cagli, is characterised by a flat top, ideal for picnic and family trips. Such peculiarity makes it fit for kitebuggy, a sport which became popular there in the latest years, and which consists in 'navigating' on the grass with sail ships equipped with wheels, pushed by the wind. The Petrano reaches 1163 metres on sea level, the high part is a vast pasture, freckled with beech-trees, hollies, thorn trees.
